Frontline leadership capability –
built through real work, not theory
The Frontline Leadership Program partners with organisations to develop their frontline managers through structured, on-the-job improvement projects. Participants develop transferable leadership skills, deliver real workplace improvements, and build engagement in their teams.

A different kind of leadership program
Many organisations approach performance and wellbeing as separate problems. Process improvement on one side, culture and engagement programs on the other. The Frontline Leadership Program works differently. By giving frontline managers a structured methodology to identify and solve real problems in their own environment, it delivers both: measurable workplace improvements and a team culture where people feel respected, heard, and engaged.
The difference is localisation. Rather than enterprise-wide surveys that identify problems without solving them, this program works within what each manager can actually control. Small, real improvements, achieved by the team, for the team, that build the habits and confidence to keep improving long after the program ends.
About the program
An eight-week blended learning program designed to fit around the realities of frontline work. Participants don’t step away from their teams to attend workshops — they apply what they learn directly to a real improvement project in their own workplace.
Each participant is supported by structured online learning, a practical improvement methodology, and one-on-one mentoring throughout. The program can be delivered as-is or tailored to reflect your organisation’s culture, language, and priorities. Flexible individual enrolment means there is no waiting for the next cohort.
Why Nestro?
The Frontline Leadership Program was developed by Gary Calwell, an organisational change specialist with three decades of experience across banking, energy, healthcare, retail, mining, and government. Throughout that work, one pattern kept surfacing: frontline managers were capable people operating in poorly designed environments. The program is the practical response to that observation.
Gary brings hands-on experience in process improvement, leadership development, coaching, and organisational change — and a track record of working with some of Australia’s largest and most complex organisations.
